the olive picker's house is a spacious single story house built in 1942 using traditional construction methods, renovated to an exceptionally high standard in 2000 and furnished with hand made welsh pine furniture. An unusual feature of the house is the totally private courtyard within the house, created by removing the roof from the original storerooms. spacious living/dining room with wood-burning stove an open log fire exceptionally well-equipped kitchen one double bedroom one twin bedroom an extra single bed is available if required and we have cots & a high chair secluded courtyards shaded by mature vines private entrance and parking area shared service room/laundry. from the central courtyard the front door leads into the high-ceilinged living room which is cool and airy in summer whilst in winter is warmed by an open log fire and built-in wood-burning stove. at the far end of the living room is a doorway leading through to the walled inner courtyard - a perfect place to take breakfast as the sun climbs over the roof to the south. an excellent taverna, shops and bars are a few minutes stroll. Sandy beaches & spectacular mountains are within easy reach. if rented together with the old wine press the two houses provide very comfortable and private accommodation for up to 9 people.

The olive picker’s house and the old wine press are two traditional stone houses set in the village of gavalohori, in the apokoronas area of western crete. Renovated to a high standard, both houses feature carefully updated interiors with hand-made furniture whilst retaining the original greek ambience. There are private courtyards filled with terracotta pots and flowers; the central courtyard that links them is shaded by mature vines.
